Step-by-Step Solution

1
Identify the vehicle type and road classification
The vehicle is a solo passenger car and the road is an unlit single carriageway without street lights.
National speed limits in Great Britain vary according to the classification of the road and the type of vehicle being driven.
2
Apply the UK Highway Code national speed limit rules
The national speed limit for standard cars on a single carriageway is 60 mph.
Under the Highway Code, when no lower speed limits are signposted and there is no system of street lighting, the national limit for cars on single carriageways is 60 mph (compared to 70 mph on dual carriageways and motorways).
