    50 mph
  2. B

  3. 60 mphAnswer
  4. D
    30 mph

Answer

60 mph
According to the UK Highway Code, the national speed limit for cars and motorcycles on a single carriageway road is 60 mph when no other speed limit is signed.

Step-by-Step Solution

1
Identify the vehicle classification and road type from the scenario.
The vehicle is a standard passenger car and the road type is a single carriageway with no posted speed limit signs.
National speed limits in the UK vary depending on the road category and whether the vehicle is towing or belongs to a commercial class.
2
Apply the official UK Highway Code national speed limit rule for cars on single carriageways.
The national speed limit is 60 mph.
Single carriageways lack a central reservation, so the limit is set 10 mph lower than that of dual carriageways (70 mph) to reduce collision risk.
