Zorluk: KolayJunctions and Intersections

You are driving behind a long articulated lorry that is signalling to turn left into a narrow side road. Before turning, the lorry moves over towards the right-hand side of the road. What action should you take?

  1. A
Overtake the lorry on its left side while the space is open
  2. B
Sound your horn and accelerate quickly past the lorry on its right
  3. Stay well back behind the lorry and allow it room to complete the turnCevap
  4. D
Flash your headlights to instruct the lorry driver to complete the manoeuvre faster

Cevap

Stay well back behind the lorry and allow it sufficient room to complete the turn.
Long articulated vehicles require extra road space to negotiate tight turns at junctions. The driver often needs to move out to the right before turning left to prevent the rear wheels from mounting the pavement. Following vehicles must stay well back and give the lorry enough room to complete the manoeuvre safely.

Adım Adım Çözüm

1
Observe the lorry's signal and road positioning ahead.
Recognise that the driver has moved right in order to obtain a wider turning arc for a tight left turn.
Articulated lorries and long vehicles require extra road space to prevent their rear wheels from mounting the kerb.
2
Evaluate the risk of undertaking or crowding the vehicle.
Identify that the temporary gap opening on the left side is a hazardous blind spot zone.
As the lorry cab turns left, the trailer cuts across the inside corner, closing any open space.
3
Maintain a safe following distance and wait patiently.
The lorry completes the manoeuvre safely without obstruction.
Holding back ensures you remain in the driver's mirrors and outside the danger area of the turning trailer.
