The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is a standardized entrance assessment administered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). It is designed to evaluate candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, including universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education. The examination is conducted as a computer-based test (CBT). Candidates take four subjects in total: Use of English, which is compulsory for all candidates, and three elective subjects chosen based on the candidate's intended academic field of study, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, or Literature in English. Secondary school graduates and prospective undergraduate students in Nigeria take the UTME to satisfy the primary entrance requirement for higher education.
